The Asian Development Bank (ADB) lowered its growth outlook for the region this year, including for Southeast Asia. Developing Asia is projected to grow by 7.2% instead of 7.3% in 2021 as renewed COVID-19 outbreaks slowed economic recovery. The growth outlook for 2022 is upgraded to 5.4% from 5.3%.
The Asian Development Bank sees the trade-dependent region tracking developments in the global economy, buoyed by mass vaccinations and fiscal and monetary stimulus.
Right interventions, including better sorting, setting recycled content targets, and restricting disposal in landfills, among others, are key, says World Bank study.
